Character World is launching a special 3D Toy Story range in time for Christmas

Licensing business Character World is predicting Disney's third Toy Story will be its biggest license of 2010.

The film, one of the most anticipated films of the year has already taken film goers over the pond by storm with takings at $350m at the box office in its first weeks, and this success is set to be replicated in the UK. There is already a 90 per cent awareness of the Toy Story brand across Europe.

Character World has seen a surge of interest in its products which include duvet covers, curtains and beds and the business is also launching a special 3D Toy Story range in time for Christmas.

Toy Story 3 is one of several new Disney franchises Character World holds the exclusive rights to such as Wizards of Waverly Place, Phineas and Ferb and Club Penguin.

Other franchises include Mickey and Minnie which has had a major resurgence in UK popularity. The business is also gearing up for next year’s release of Cars 2 and Tangled, the re-make of the classic fairy tale, Rapunzel.

Danny Schweiger, joint managing director of Character World said: “We have phenomenal distribution at retail for our new Toy Story 3 range with mail order, grocery and online retailers buying into it and are confident that it will be an even bigger seller than our current Toy Story range, launched for the first two movie re-releases. We’ve updated the look, giving the design a modern twist and it has been well received.

“We are proud of our exclusive license to produce Disney goods in the UK. We’ve established a strong relationship with Disney and have met and exceeded sales targets.”

Character World also designs and manufactures interior and outdoor products for a host of other popular children’s brands including The Simpsons, Peppa Pig, Dora the Explorer, Star Wars and Thomas and Friends.

The business also has brands and sports licenses including Manchester United, England FA, Bench and Paul Frank.
