Iago's father has been accidentally kidnapped by a seriously mad scientist. The intended kidnap victim was his his Uncle Jonas, who is a scientist involved with the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) project at CERN - the European Centre for Nuclear Research in Switzerland - where he has been working on Big-Bang theory.
Jonas has discovered that his old nemesis Katherina Kreng has used the LHC to create matter-annihilating particles - Killer Strangelets - which could destroy the planet.
The only solution depends on an emergency shutdown device hidden deep inside the long LHC tunnel, deep beneath the Swiss mountains. The problem is that only Jonas knows where it is, and he can't get to it.
