Parents can now relax and enjoy all the benefits of fun, educational and engaging activities whilst bonding with their children in the run up to starting school. The Ben and Betty Programme was initially designed for nurseries and is used very successfully in formal childcare settings but recent research has also shown that it is beneficial for home use as well. The research, carried out by FUNdamentals, showed that teachers, childcare workers, parents and children all gave Ben and Betty a ringing endorsement.

According to the research, the key benefits of the programme are it’s educational qualities with a particular focus on phonics and the cute rabbits, Ben and Betty who appear throughout the programme and help engage the children so they don’t even know they are learning and the comprehensive range of ways to learn including interactive CD, worksheets and fun activities.

The programme was popular in every area covered by the questionnaire and Dr Amanda Gummer, Director of FUNdamentals reported that she’d never evaluated a product that had received such a ringing endorsement.

Ben and Betty is the first and only all-in-one learning programme for 2.5 year olds+ in this country. Each level contains an interactive CD and 4 child friendly fun workbooks which introduce, develop and reinforce the basic skills and help master: THE ALPHABET, PHONICS, EARLY READING, LETTER FORMATION & WRITING, NUMBERS, SHAPES, SIZE, BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS & HAND to EYE CO-ORDINATION. The aim is to give all children a head start and to encourage one-to-one time between children and their parents, grandparents and caregivers. It only takes 20 minutes a day.

The Ben and Betty Learning programme is the brainchild of Jenny Briggs, (former head of her own nursery and Infant School) and Alyson Lobo (Head of Infants and specialist in the Early Years Foundation Stage at a school in Hertfordshire.) Having used the programme so successfully for years they knew how good it was but were thrilled by the enthusiastic response from parents such as Mrs Spalter who said “It’s an inspirational breath of fresh air!”
