Phonics-based education system for pre and nursery school children
(15/10/2009)
The Ben and Betty pre-school child education system will have its first public showing at the Earls Court Baby Show on 16 -18 October 2009.
The cuddly rabbits Ben and Betty that give the program its name, take the children and the parent through a steadily progressing series of activities and games that impart skills, knowledge and confidence in an easy and enjoyable process. All the parent has to do is to join in with the child playing the games and activities in the books prompted by the CD ROM driven computer screen.
Phonics-based, this is a unique, comprehensive and easy to use home learning system for 2 1/2 to 7 year old children using a lively activity and play based book and CD ROM interactive approach.
For the first time in a single learning program, this parent conducted education system gives pre and nursery school children a range of knowledge and skills including:
1. Reading
2. Writing
3. Reasoning
4. Numeracy
5. Letter formation
6. Hand - eye coordination
7. Computer familiarity
It was developed over the last 10 years originally as a book based system by professional nursery teachers Jenny Briggs and Alison Lobo for class use by trained teaching staff. They have now taken this proven method to a new level by making it easy for parents to conduct learning sessions with the aid of the books and a CD ROM on a home computer giving children the benefits of a comprehensive pre school education, previously only available in the private sector.
In a recent independent survey conducted by Dr Amanda Gummer of the leading play research company FUNdamentals, Dr Gummer said, “I have never evaluated a product that received such a ringing endorsement from teachers, childcare workers, parents and children”.
