Breastfeeding Pouch enables mums to breast feed discreetly outside the home
(24/08/2009)
The Breastfeeding Pouch is a design created by a mum for other mums to enhance their experience of nurturing by enabling them to breast feed discreetly outside the home. Mums who want to breastfeed their babies, but feel uncomfortable doing so when out and about can be reassured that their modesty is safe, thanks to the innovative new Breast Feeding Pouch by Janet Theodore.
Janet, a mother of four girls, found breast feeding in public places extremely difficult, and eventually gave up; deciding to bottle feed her children instead. She comments: "It has always been a regret not being able to breast feed my children. Breast milk is best giving babies all the nutrients they need for the first six months of their life. Since my last daughter Charlotte was born, I listened to other mums in the same situation and decided to find a solution.”
As a result, Janet came up with the idea of the Breast Feeding Pouch, which is welcomed by new mums everywhere, giving them confidence to feed their babies as nature intended. Stored in its own stylish bag, the Breastfeeding Pouch has a large attached privacy blanket and generous sized pouch with plenty of room for a growing baby. Made from cotton drill and lined with soft fleece, the Breast Feeding Pouch is designed with a neck and waist pad for extra comfort, hook and loop shoulder and waist straps.
Great value for money and providing so much more than just a breastfeeding accessory, the Breast Feeding Pouch is ideal for travelling and days out, for changing, using as a bath-time snug or keeping baby warm while dressing before and after swimming. It is available in black and red and also comes with a matching baby changing bag with lots of pockets and plenty of room for baby’s essentials.
New mum, Rosie Hughes Geslaes said: “One of the reasons I was initially reluctant to breast feed was because I didn’t want people to stare at me when I was out and about. Now I feel completely confident feeding my baby in public and don’t mind where I am. If my baby is hungry, I’ll feed her wherever we are, in the park, at the shops, on a plane or in a restaurant.”
Janet Theodore’s Breast Feeding Pouch has also been commended by Julie Wray, a midwife and senior lecturer at Salford University who comments: “I am so pleased that a mother has invented this amazing baby friendly product. It will encourage mothers to consider breast feeding and help them to feed longer as they no longer have to feel embarrassed. It gives them the privacy they need and is great for baby too.”
The Janet Theodore Breast Feeding Pouch RRP is £39.99 and is available through many nursery retailers including Mothercare.
