Bump2Baby encourages visitors to knit for charity
(22/01/2009)
Bump2Baby is a one-stop shop for practical seminars, informative discussions and expert advice on health and fitness, parenting techniques, nutrition, and a range of interactive classes to get involved with as well as great deals on equipment and services, the latest fashions for children and mums-to-be, and a chance to meet other parents to share experiences.
Bump2Baby is encouraging its visitors – pregnant women, new mums and grandmas – to ‘Knit4Bliss’, creating tiny jackets and blankets knitted in special baby yarn that will be given to Bliss, the UK charity that helps care for premature and sick babies.
The ‘Knit4Bliss’ jacket pack contains a special pattern, a 100 gram ball of baby yarn and a bag to return your knitting back to Bump2Baby so it can be distributed to specialist neonatal units in the area. The pack, which can be ordered from www.bump2babyshow.co.uk, can be obtained for a donation of £4.75, with all of the money going to Bliss.
For less experienced knitters or for those wishing to teach someone else how to knit, the ‘Knit4Bliss’ blanket pack contains instructions on how to knit, a 100 gram ball of baby yarn that will create a number of squares, and again a bag to return your knitting back to Bump2Baby. When the squares have been produced, they are stitched together to create a blanket that can be used to cover an incubator or to cover the baby, keeping them cosy. The blanket pack costs £2.75 and can again be ordered from the Bump2Baby website.
Bliss, the special care baby charity was founded in 1979 and is dedicated to ensuring that babies survive and go on to have the best quality of life. It does this by providing practical and emotional support for families during an extremely difficult time, so they can give the best care to their babies.
Bliss, the Bump2Baby Show’s chosen charity for 2009, also provides training and support for doctors and nurses as well as funds research to improve the care of all sick and premature babies. It also raises awareness of the issues affecting special care babies and fights for essential change within government and the NHS.
The first show takes place from 20th to 22nd March 2009 at Telford International Centre.
